Emerging artists from the Colburn School’s Ed and Mari Edelman Chamber Music Institute perform chamber works by Beethoven, Brahms, Fauré, Bozza, Turina, and Shostakovich.
The Ed and Mari Edelman Chamber Music Institute offers one of the most comprehensive and intense precollege-level chamber music learning experiences of any music school in North America. Students performing today are coached weekly by members of the Colburn School’s nationally acclaimed faculty, including cellist Diego Miralles, pianist Mina Perry, violinist Ida Levin, flutist Karen Lundgren, French horn player Annie Bosler, and Institute Director Gina Coletti. Visiting international performing artists and ensembles frequently give master classes to student ensembles. Ensembles from the Institute have been prizewinners in numerous competitions, including the Coleman Chamber Music Competition and the Young Artists Peninsula Music Festival, and have appeared on the nationally syndicated PRI series From the Top. Ensembles perform regularly on the School’s Friday Night Recital series, and in the School’s outreach program, Musical Encounter. At the end of each school year, a Chamber Music Gala held in Zipper Hall showcases the Institute’s entire program.
