Dear Patrons of Sundays Live: We’re 60! In June, Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky “…I’m delighted to offer my greetings to everyone in attendance today to celebrate the 60th anniversary of one of our cherished cultural institutions: Sundays Live, the free chamber music series that was born the same year I was, in 1948….Sundays Live has provided in-person and broadcast audiences with a warm and consistently high-quality classical music experience. Your programs are certainly a fondly remembered part of my own personal experience growing up in Los Angeles, as I know they are for many classical aficionados. So…my warmest wishes…with many happy returns of the day.” After six decades and three generations of listeners, we are embarking on our next season confident that you will help us continue to provide 50 FREE concerts this year – and into the next 6 decades! Celebratory Sundays Live performances will be devoted to Haydn and Mendelssohn in 2009 to mark their 200th anniversaries. Our audiences have grown to capacity. We see many familiar – and new – faces each week; seasoned music lovers, young families and students. Attendance is a cross-section of the diverse community we are privileged to serve. Our musicians are the best available and are always enthusiastically received. Those unable to attend in person may listen on the web (www.LACMA.org) or to our rebroadcast on KCSN (88.5 FM) Wednesdays at noon. May we include you in our roster of Friends? Basic membership remains $50, or $1 per concert, but if you can give another $10 in honor of our 60 years, Sundays Live will also send you a commemorative CD featuring some glorious past performances. Your name will appear in our new program listings next January and remain in print for a full year. New this year: Priority Seating at the $100+ levels! We are asking you to contribute a small share of actual costs and trust that we can count on your generosity once again.
