June 1: Pianist Inna Faliks and Violinist Tim Fain

Pianist Inna Faliks returns to Sundays Live with Tim Fain, one of the world’s finest violinists.

Called “adventurous” and “passionate” by the New Yorker, Faliks played her debut with the Chicago Symphony at age 15, and performs regularly at major venues in the U.S. and abroad. The Washington Post has praised her “poetry and panoramic vision.” Faliks has recently appeared at Carnegie Hall, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Salle Cortot (Paris), and in television and radio broadcasts worldwide. Among her honors is the coveted International Pro Musicis Award, which she won in 2005.

Violinist Tim Fain has emerged as a mesmerizing new presence on the music scene. The “charismatic young violinist with a matinee idol profile, strong musical instincts, and first rate chops” (Boston Globe) was most recently seen on screen and heard on the Grammy-nominated soundtrack of the film Black Swan, and heard as the sound of Richard Gere’s violin in Fox Searchlight’s feature film Bee Season. The Washington Post recently raved, “Fain has everything he needs for a first-rate career.”

The program includes Beethoven: Sonata in A major, Opus 47 (Kreutzer), and Michael Shapiro: Violin Sonata.

This concert is supported by a generous grant from the Hind Foundation.
